GENERAL INFORMATION FOR COMPLETING COLLEGE APPLICATIONS

3. Make an individual folder for each application. List all deadlines(application, financial aid, scholarships, etc.)on the outside of the folder.
4. Make a photocopy of each application to use as a rough draft. Do not write on the original until you are absolutely sure of what you want to say.
5. Give the Teacher Recommendation form to the appropriate teacher as soon as possible. Allow that teacher two weeks to write your letter. You need to also give that teacher a copy of your resume' and a stamped addressed envelope.
6. Sign your application and enclose the application fee if one is required.
7. MAKE A COPY OF YOUR APPLICATION, ESSAY, AND APPLICATION FEE CHECK FOR YOUR FILES. BE SURE TO RECORD THE DATE YOU MAILED THE APPLICATION ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FOLDER.
8. If you apply on-line, be sure to print a copy of your form before you submit it and keep it in your folder. Be sure to date when you submitted your application.
9. Always ask a parent, teacher, counselor, etc. to proof your application for errors before you mail the original.
10. Type or neatly print your application in BLACK INK. Remember your application is speaking for you-make it impressive.
11. A transcript will be sent to the college you apply. Let me know if you need a partial transcript sent and where to send it. Upon graduation, a complete transcipt of your high school career including your ACT scores will be sent to the college(s) you request. Most colleges will grant provisional acceptance on your partial transcipt knowing that your complete transcript will follow after graduation.
12. Be sure to check your scholarship deadlines. Many of these do not extend past the month of February.
